Response to Hard Cash: A History of Artists Using Money as a Metaphor BY ANDREW RUSSETH

K Foundation's performance  K Foundation Burn a Million Quid , Aug. 23, 1995 Andrew Ruesseth mentions a couple artist including Andy Warhol, and the infamous banana on the wall piece of art. And how much is art worth? A comment on society's values of high art which raises the question of what makes using money in art wrong. Burning it to make a statement that we put so much value in a piece a paper that all it is a piece of paper. Or using precious gemstones that valued high rate already why make a ridiculous medium out of it. Because why not that how most people live their lives thinking about money. Either you have a lot of it or live paycheck to paycheck. And if you live middle class all you do is hope you live to move up or down.

Alex Losey Sock Game Kills propaganda poster (extra)

So this was just a fun extra poster that was Alex Losey and I came up with because comparing each other's socks one day. And it would be out of the box type propaganda. So the route I took to make sense of this was using false facts. And the aesthetic was from the old 1944 poster during the WW2.

DTC 355: Project 2 "COVID-19" propaganda poster

I decided to do this theme because that is what I’m constantly hearing all day for the past weeks. So why not make some art of this situation. The poster colors China flags withing the spray is where it was started. And I changed the mask into a dis-morphed United states flag. Using a very generic Asian face from the internet because people are freaking about or reacting in racial profiling manor. And calling this virus what is and that is a racist virus. And I chose to use a disinfecting spray because people are buying large amounts of this. And it also references to how some Americans view Asian people as zombies, pests, or the cause of reason for the spread of this virus. Which is far from the truth.

art online

If anyone is interested in visiting an art museum but can not like me. Artnet.com has found some art exhibits and artists that can be seen and heard online through artist website, Ubuweb, Vimeo, Rhizome, Youtube there is one more but I dare not say where it is (begins with a "p" ends with "ornhub"). Weird time for artist to show their life's work or any sorta opening. It is one of those times where the internet does come in handy and not entirely a distraction. Response: New Media in Art: CH3 160-179pgs

The artist, and filmmaker Steve Mcqueen video installation Five Easy Pieces , familiar male athletes from the spotlight to ordinary life "filling the empty spaces in the representation of the black male in contemporary media that nowhere zone between the glorified athlete, or pop start to a thug in the street) (171). Not much has changed from the late 1990s as a society we still glorify celebrities and when they mess up or show imperfections, no longer this perfect deity that can do no harm.

Michael Rush mentions exploring the lyrical other words combing the writing, poems, song, music, etc. turned into visual images, performances or installations(150).  At first to me seemed kinda boring the writing portion and poems because I am not very good at and it is confusing sometimes trying to understand authors writing or meaning behind the story if there is one. But the parts that interest me are turning visuals into poems. For example, Bill Viola's single-channel video installation described as "videos as visual poems " grappling with identity and spirituality.

One of the artist mentioned in chapter three is Dara BirnBaum, Rio Videowall  (1989) a sculpture installation of TVs on top each other making a one huge image(138).  And while the image of  natural landscapes playing on the twenty-five monitors as a shoppers passes by there are bodies a rematerialized into the monitor thanks to the surveillance cameras set up. Exploring body flow of data as well. However, the idea of the images past and recording present images is cool idea because humans are the cause for disruption in the natural world. Having it in a mall adds a deeper meaning to destroying nature for new mall or commercialization.
